Overview
Named after the most revered deity in Hindu mythology – Lord Shiva, Mount Sibling is a very challenging and technical mountain in the Tapovan region of Uttarakhand. A steep and barely recognizable tooth-like peak towering at an altitude of 6543 m above sea level, West Garhwali is arguably the most beautiful peak in the Himalayan region. Many climbers often say that the top of the mountain resembles the structure of Shiva’s lingam, and that the front of the peak resembles the face of Lord Ganesha.
It takes about 24 days from Delhi to climb this huge mountain. Also, according to the Mountaineering Foundation of India, this is an intermediate level trekking trip, so you may need some technical knowledge of mountaineering before embarking on this trip. Much of this knowledge has to do with the use of crampons, ice axe, jumars, and light instruction in the skill of using ropes on steep trails. Summit also requires a certain amount of determination and good physical and mental health so as not to lose credibility during such an incredible journey.
